Danfoss Editron

EDITRON is the world’s most sophisticated electric drivetrain system, designed, manufactured and delivered by Danfoss Editron. Our unique approach delivers maximum efficiency, reduced size and weight, and continual improvements for customers. Our sophisticated software controls and optimizes each individual component of an electric or hybrid drivetrain leading to much more intelligent management of power distribution.

With EDITRON, one piece of hardware can perform the task of many different components and each system can adapt and upgrade as the customer’s needs develop. EDITRON powertrain systems deliver market-leading efficiency and are suitable for hybrid and electric applications within the power range of 30kW to 2,000kW. Its rugged and compact systems with smart software controls provide a comprehensive EDITRON drivetrain solution for customers.

ELECTRIC CONVERTERS

Danfoss Editron electric drivetrains are specially designed for controlling the flow of hybrid and electric power in vehicle, machine and marine applications.

Main product groups

  • Electric converters including inverters and frequency converters
  • Electric DC-to-DC converters

The software for all products supports a variety of the communication protocols most widely used in vehicles, e.g. SAE–J1939 and CANopen. As a Danfoss customer, you can further customize the operation of the inverters and create your own applications with the license-free CODESYS IEC61131-3 programming tool.

Power range 100-2,000 kW

EC-C1200 is built with components that can handle double the number of load cycles compared to components used in standard industrial inverters. The standard lifespan of EC-C1200 products is up to 20 years. The high-performance vector control of Danfoss EC-C1200 drives the motors accurately and smoothly. It can control induction motors (IM), permanent magnet (PM) motors and Danfoss reluctance-assisted permanent magnet (SRPM) motors with or without sensors. The EC-C1200 can be selected with different software options allowing it to work as active front end, microgrid, motor control (inverter) and as a DC-to-DC converter.

ELECTRIC DRIVETRAINS

Danfoss Editron electric drivetrains are based on synchronous reluctance assisted permanent magnet technology (SRPM). They are liquid-cooled and designed to work in harsh operating environments such as traction motor in heavy machinery or propulsion motor in marine applications. They can work both as a generator or as a motor.

Compared to conventional technologies, like induction machines (IM) or standard permanent magnet motors (PM), the electric SRPM motors offer smaller dimensions, lighter weight and higher efficiency. The motors are available in various speed and torque ratings:

  • EM-PMI with power up to 4,000 kW – high torque with high efficiency.

All permanent magnet motors can be tested with full load against the actual desired workload in our own test laboratory. We can feed the work load cycle of the machine into our testing system and run loading tests in the laboratory. This significantly reduces the testing time at your premises.

Applications: Traction motors for vehicles, propulsion motors for marine vessels, variable-speed generators for hybrid vehicle or marine vessels
